For adults who want to continue their education or pursue employment in the technology field, our free CORE: IT Certification Training offers curriculum to build foundational knowledge and skills for professional readiness.


For high school students who want to improve their academic achievement or economic stability, DISCOVER: IT Certification Training offers a curriculum designed to explore and prepare for a future job in technology. Students will develop digital literacy and technology fundamentals and gain insight into potential career paths in IT.

Students of all ages can earn certifications to put on resumes, explore opportunities for a career in the IT field, and gain experience through hands-on learning. Upon receiving a certification, students are eligible to earn a free laptop to help them network, research, and apply for jobs.


Digital Foundations: A starting point to learn basic digital literacy to boost confidence and speed with computers. Students learn how to create a professional Google email address, how to use Google drive, how to write and edit a resume and how to use a flash drive. At the end of the course, students have the chance to earn the Northstar Digital Literacy Certificate.

Cisco IT Essentials: This class provides an introduction to the computer hardware and software skills needed to help meet the growing demand for entry-level ICT professionals.

CompTIA A+: This certification is the next step after completing Cisco IT Essentials. The class validates understanding of the most common hardware and software technologies in business and certifies the skills necessary to support complex IT infrastructures.

CompTIA IT Fundamentals+: Provides students with the basic skills and concepts required to maintain, support, and work with personal computers. This course teaches technical skills and information on set up, configuration, and troubleshooting on simple wireless devices, primary hardware, and software components.

Cisco CCNA: This course is the first step into Cisco networking and will provide students with skills like network fundamentals and access, IP connectivity and services, security fundamentals, and more.

HTML 5 and CSS: Students learn the basic building blocks of web design and style. By the end of the course, students will understand all the fundamental elements – from headers and links to images and sidebars – and leave having built a basic framework for their own website. Students who complete this course receive a verified certificate from W3C and Microsoft.
